Burn the Fat and Fat Loss – Restrictive Diets May Not Be the Way to Go

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

One of the first things that dieters find when they are looking to lose weight is that the diets are restrictive. They restrict everything from the types of foods you can eat to the amounts, to the number of calories. However, recent findings show that restrictive diets may not be the way to go when it comes to fat loss. In fact, these types of restrictive diets are not only hard to maintain but often lead to an imbalance in the body that can in turn lead to the regaining of lost weight or even encourage future weight gain.

While some restrictive measures should be taken such as with junk foods, soda and other empty calorie foods there is no need to restrict healthy foods. The best way to lose weight and burn the fat and feed the muscle in the body is to increase the foods you eat that are rich in nutrients. Since the body can run on significantly less than it needs to run at optimum efficiency, many people are actually deficient in necessary nutrients. As a result, the body tends to lean towards storage of anything extra that comes in that the body might needs later. In order to avoid this instead of restricting your diet consider eating nutrient rich foods.

Eating a balanced diet is the first step to finding a nutritional balance this is important because most people who experience a deficiency often have a chemical or hormonal imbalance. While this imbalance may not have obvious signs such as you might get from a lack of iron, calcium or vitamin C it can still cause issues with the body and metabolism. The metabolism is not written in stone. It can be manipulated based on the chemicals that are produced within the body. Too much or too little of a chemical can throw the metabolism off and prevent you from losing weight. However, because the metabolism is based chemically and hormonally, it can be manipulated consciously.

The body produces certain chemicals at certain times by eating the right types of foods at the right time you can manipulate the amounts of these chemicals and hormones while they are being produced. It does not require anything special to accomplish, all you need is the knowledge of when the body generally produces these hormones and the types and kinds of foods to eat during these times. This process can help you to turn your metabolism into a fat burning machine that can help you reach your weight loss goal and more importantly maintain that weight by maintaining your metabolism.

You do not have to follow complicated diet plans frustrating programs that leave you stressed, or try to figure out how to pack complicated exercise plans into your schedule. All you have to do manipulate your metabolism to encourage the burning of fat and keep your metabolism at the best level for keeping your body at its ideal weight by providing it with the right foods at the right times. I have found a very interesting exercise and weight loss book and there’s a Burn the Fat book review that talks more about it.  You can look into that to learn more about it.  I’ve heard rave reviews about it, so it does seem to work better than most others.

Medicaid Estate Recovery: Are Texas Seniors Ready?

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 18, 2004

Texass Medicaid Estate Recovery Program (MERP) is estimated to begin September 1, 2004. Many in Texas, including Houston elder-law attorney Wesley Wright, are concerned that Texans may not understand the bill or be aware of how it could effect them.

Starting September 1, when a Medicaid recipient dies, the state of Texas (through the Department of Health and Human Services) will be able to file a claim against the decedents estate in order to recover the cost of long-term care including nursing home fees, hospital care, and medicine costs. Anything considered as part of the probate estate — including homes, property and cash — is fair game for the state as a source of fund recovery.

According to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), only 292 people attended the 6 public forums held by the HHSC on the topic throughout the state this year. Mr. Wright finds this disturbing considering the number of people affected by the statute. Many seniors are not concerned with Medicaid legislation because they think it does not apply to them. But with the staggering financial costs of long-term care (around $45,000 – $61,000 per year), the truth in Texas is that 7 out of 10 nursing home patients rely on Medicaid to pay the bill, he explains.

But before seniors and their families start to panic, Mr. Wright advises that they learn all the facts. There are substantial limits as to what Texas can access for fund recovery and when they can access it, he says. For example, the state cannot file against a decedents estate if the spouse is still living. Anyone currently on Medicaid for long-term care as of September 1, 2004, is exempt from recovery. Even if a person becomes at risk of recovery, there is a proposed $50,000 automatic exemption on all homesteads.

These are the types of facts that seniors need to know so they can make informed decisions about accessing the Medicaid program for long-term care, says Mr. Wright. Seniors and their families can sign up for his FREE newsletter about Medicaid Estate Recovery and other senior legal topics on his website, http://www.wrightabshire.com. A summary of the program and proposed rules may be found online at the Texas Department of Health and Human Services website: http://www.hhsc.state.tx.us/medicaid/EstateRecovery/Framework.html

What nursing specialties are there that require a little more than a bachelors degree?

I want to be a nurse midwife, but am looking around. I am going to get a bachelors degree in nursing, but don't necessarily want to stop there. I want to go to school for maybe 1-2 more years for a specialty (as in midwifery) what other specialties are there? Any nurses out there have a job they really really love and how many years of school? There are several paths that can be taken to become a pediatric nurse. You can become a LPN, an RN, or obtain your Bachelor's in Nursing. A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), takes approximately one year. Your scope of practice varies with the state that you live in. In my state, Tennessee, LPNs can start IVs and give medications, with the exception of a few specific medications. They can take care of many types of patients except the most critical patients that present to our ED. While the track to becoming an LPN is the shortest, your opportunities are also limited. A (RN) is the next type of nurse that you can become. Typically, this takes approximately two years to achieve. Nurses who go through a RN program receive either a nursingNursing is a healthcare profession focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life from birth to death.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nursing certificate or an associate's degree in nursing (ADN or ASN). Become a Nurse – Get Accepted to the Right Nursing School

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

While it is common knowledge that there is a nursing shortage in the , it is not so commonly known that this also means there is a shortage of nursing instructors. For prospective nursing students, this translates into long waiting lists for nursing school and serious competition with others for a spot at their chosen school. However, students can take action to improve their chances of acceptance.

For students interested in pursuing the four-year Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree, it is critical that they get good grades in high school. They may even want to take some classes at a community college before applying for acceptance into a BSN program. This will show the school that they are willing and able to do college-level work.

Another important element of the application process is the admissions essay. Some schools refer to this essay as a statement of purpose. Prospective BSN students may be asked to compose an essay that describes to the nursing school admissions authorities why they chose to go into nursing and what they plan to do with a nursing degree. It is important to answer these questions honestly instead of trying to determine what the admissions committee wants to hear. The essays should always be carefully proofread before submission, and students should ask someone else to read the essay and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.

Application to BSN programs typically requires letters of recommendation from individuals who know the prospective student and can vouch for their character and work. For a nursing school, it is best if recommendations come from science teachers or health care professionals that the student may have worked with. Since teachers and professors are inundated with requests for recommendation letters every semester, it is important the prospective nursing student makes his or her request as early as possible to ensure that they will be completed by the application deadline.

One of the best things a student can do to improve the odds of getting accepted at the nursing school of choice is to work in a health care setting, either through volunteering or a part-time job. This shows the admissions committee that the student is clear about his or her career choice and that some experience in the field has been obtained. Students will also learn about the various health care settings in which nurses actually work, so they will have a better idea of the various specialties available when it comes time for them to select one. Additionally, obtaining the Certified (CNA) designation can make becoming a nurse much easier and look very good on a nursing school application
